Product Description This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography.

Solid lens November 17, 2008 Delivery of product from seller was very fast . Outstanding service! Product fits well on my EOS XSi. Lens protector looks solid (and heavy) compared to cheap lens for less then $10 t Amazon. Can't complain about quality - German lens manufacturer are still the best.
Pro Quality November 11, 2008 This B+W UV filter is top quality. It's a must for a pro quality lens. You can tell the effectiveness of its multi-coatings by just looking into the lens with the filter on. I use these on all of my portrait lenses.
Super Quality August 9, 2008 It is solid. The glass is super. I don't see any side effects in images. Strongly recommended.
Good Quality Filter July 16, 2008 I have no reduction in quality on my Canon XSi. Quality of this filter was as promised-- you pay for what you get.
A top of the line filter. May 21, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
A high priced, top of the line filter. I have just received mine, so I haven't had a chance to use it, but I'm sure it is as good as the other reviewers say. I gave mine 4 stars based on a few things I have noticed that may not be so great about it. 1). The price. I'm sure it is worth the price due to its multi-coatings, etc, but if you have a few lenses and want to put a protective filter on each, it will get costly. 2). If you snug this filter down (even lightly) on a plastic lens adaptor, you may never get it off without a filter wrench. Go lightly, metal and plastic threads don't mix well. 3). The case is too large. It is a square plastic case that measures 5/8 by 3.5 by 3.5 inches. It takes up too much space in my bag, and is too big to fit in any of my bag's side pockets. A standard round, plastic, smaller case like those that come with some lesser filters would be better. Just thought I would mention a few downsides to this otherwise highly rated filter. ADDED: I ordered it directly from the Adorama web site and saved nearly $2 over ordering it through Amazon. Also, on the Adorama site there are several versions of this filter for lower prices, but they don't necessarily have the same level of multi-coatings. The best multi-coatings will reduce or eliminate reflections on the filter glass from showing up in your photos.
