Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
One of the reasons of the Cokin success story is that Cokin is permanently in close contact with both professional and amateur photographers and videographers, so as to listen to their ideas and precise needs. The products launched by Cokin are therefore always perfectly adapted to real needs.

Amazon.com Product Description
Cokin filters were invented by professional photographer Jean Coquin. By using square filters like Cokin's, which fit into a holder and are attached to a lens via an adapter ring, the photographer has a number of immediate advantages. There is no need to duplicate filters to fit different size lenses, up to three filters can be used at once to create unique effects, and the photographer has control over the positioning of the effect on the photograph.

5 out of 5 stars Every camera should have one   August 15, 2008
ND filters make an amature photographer look like a pro. Brings out rich color, better depth of field and makes moving water look like it's moving. Use a number of them together and enhance your photo's even more.

Neutral Density filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance. They have four main uses:

1 To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars.

2 To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background.

3 To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations.

4 To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure. Neutral Density factors:

Cokin 152 (exposure adjustment = approx. 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)

Cokin 153 (exposure adjustment = approx. 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)

Cokin 154 ("P" series only; exposure adjustment = approx. 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
