A macro for 1/4 the cost of a macro November 24, 2008 I got this lens to work with my Sony A700 and Tamron 70-200 2.8 zoom. That lens already has Macro capability but only 1:3. This lens brings it to about 1:1. I haven't done any scientific tests with it, but with some casual shooting it has preformed great. The tough thing with macro is always that the depth of field is short. Once you learn how to focus and even bracket your focusing things work out much better.
Bottom line, I'm glad I got it.

Great for Macro October 20, 2008 This turned my 70-200 into a superlative macro lens on par with a dedicated macro.
Excellent, inexpensive choice vs. macro lens May 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Takes really good close-ups. Not really a substitute for true macro but, for other than hard core macro shooters, it's close enough; light, inexpensive and very sharp! Use it with a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 and it does very well.
Great addition to my lenses May 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A surpisingly good lens. I have been using it on my Canon 40D with a 70-200mm F/4L and it takes great shots. It works well with a 1.4x teleconverter too. Flowers taken with an off-axis fill flash came out great. You need to get a ring adapter to fit the 77mm 500D to the 72mm 70-200 zoom.
It's not cheap, but the quality is worth it.
Optical wonder August 18, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Superb optics to shorten the working distance for close-up work, very little color fringing and no visible distortion. Nice piece of glass.
