essential August 28, 2008 Too often I find viewfinders that are unsympathetic to spectacle wearers, not being able to see the full view/field. Having bought without trying it was a relief to find that yes it is useable with specs, and the whole frame is visible. It would be a little easier to use if it wasn't so tiny though, and the topof the optional; lens hood intrudes into the bottom of the frame/view. 4 stars from me, as I feel if it was larger, and higher off the top plate it would be even better. Still essntial, though the voightlander 28mm viewfinder may just be that extra star better.
A must for the DP1 May 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unlike point and shoot compacts such as Canon etc offerings, the DP1 is designed for photographers. Trying to use the DP1 as a point and shooter will result in the same slowness to focus etc that plagues all compacts. This camera is best used as some Leica owners use Leicas - manually preset focus and be ready for instant use. You should also turn off the lcd and the sleep mode and keep the camera ready to shoot. For this the viewfinder is required. A little expensive but it gets the job done.
Get the External Viewfinder for your DP-1 March 29, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Forget about the review that thinks this is overpriced, I think it is a valuable addition to the DP-1 and if you've ever bought pro quality accessories for a Nikon, Leica, etc., this is a bargain.
The quality is very good, it is compact, fits perfectly on the camera -- in short it looks like it belongs there. If you are serious about street or action shooting, you need this accessory.
Love external OVFs February 21, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Some people don't understand the purpose of an external OVF. Once you use one, you'll know why you want one.
Ridiculous February 19, 2008 1 out of 25 found this review helpful
This over-rated piece of glass should not be $150. That is just ridiculous. I was going to buy the camera, but without the optical viewfinder it's lost some of the appeal. Buying this for $150 is out of the question. Hello Canon!
