This device worked as intended, but notice that it is a "Flip "FLASH" Bracket" - in other words, it flips your flash, not your camera. This is an important consideration in that if you use a gripped SLR body, you wind up flipping the flash, which puts your grip towards the bottom of the assembly. The result is that the grip's trigger button is no longer accessible for shooting, unless you contort your hand in such a way as to reach it. You wind up shooting with the normal camera trigger, in an uncomfortable position, defeating one of the purposes of the grip.
Do yourself a favor and spend a little more for a bracket that flips your camera instead. As an excersize, picture a gripped camera mounted on the bracket - the rubber handle of the grip will be on the left. When you flip the flash, your left hand will be on the top, and your right hand will be supporting your camera from the bottom. The grip will now be towards the left of the assembly, rendering it useless for portrait shooting.
In addition, a heavy flash such as the Canon 580EX seems to be too much weight for the flash mount of the bracket. Unless you tighten it well, it may fall off, which happened to me. Luckily I caught it before it hit the floor. The overall impression of the assembly doesn't correspond with the "Pro" designation.
I really didn't like this unit, and wound up returing it. Incidently, Amazon's return process is top notch. Buy with confidence. Just return your item within the alloted timeframe and you should be good to go.
