Product Description The first consumer 6.2 megapixel (S-pixel: 3.1 million, R-pixel: 3.1 million) digital camera, which carries Fujifilm's proprietary new Super CCD SR (Super Dynamic Range) technology. Capturing pictures as real as life, approaching that of film for the first time. Maximum output is 2, 832 x 2, 128 (6.03 million) recorded pixels. The F700 is intended for photo enthusiasts who want a near-film quality print experience from a digital camera. Thanks to its new 4th Generation Super CCD SR technology, which doubles the number of pixels on the chip. The SR sensor mimics the light capturing ability of film, offering 3.1 million large pixels (S) with high sensitivity to light, and 3.1 million smaller pixels (R) with low sensitivity to light. The result is a dynamic range that is four times that of previous Super CCDs. The F700 has a new low distortion 3X optical zoom. In addition, a new rapid continuous auto-focus (C-AF) on-demand mode was combined with its built-in focusing assist lamp and autofocus capabilities. Crisp, clear focus is achieved by holding the C-AF button while taking a picture. The F700's advanced movie mode records full VGA (640x480) resolution at 30 fps with sound. Image playback is on a large 1.8" LCD, and downloading files is as simple as placing the camera in the included cradle and letting Fujifilm's new FinePix Viewer ver. 4.0 do the rest. The cradle also supports a PC-Cam mode and recharges the lithium-ion battery.
Amazon.com Product Description The FinePix F700 is one of the first Fujifilm digital cameras to use the new high-dynamic-range Super CCD SR sensor. The camera has a 3.1-megapixel Super CCD SR sensor, which can produce a 6-megapixel image thanks to its innovative layout of paired photodiodes. The FinePix F700 also features a fast start-up time of 1.2 seconds, 3x optical zoom, and VGA resolution movie mode, and includes the PictureCradle docking station. Optics and Resolution At the heart of the FinePix F700 lies the fourth-generation Super CCD SR sensor, capable of delivering an amazing 6 million recorded pixels (2,832 x 2,128 pixels) thanks to its unique honeycomb design and advanced signal processing. The FinePix F700 features a new high-resolution Super EBC Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens (with 2.2x digital zoom) that delivers improved picture sharpness with increased optical resolving power, as well as greatly improved autofocus performance for both static and moving images. Fourth-Generation Super CCD SR Fujifilm's Super CCD SR provides a truer representation of the actual subject being photographed, revealing highlight detail and offering a four-fold increase in dynamic range. By using the innovative layout of paired photodiodes, the technology enables confident shooting in both bright and cloudy conditions. It also combats the bleached-out effect created by flash photography and increases exposure latitude, a great advantage in difficult lighting conditions. Storage and Transfer Images are stored on XD memory cards; a 16 MB card is included. Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB storage-class connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software. Movie Mode In addition to taking still photos, the FinePix F700 is capable of recording VGA resolution videos (640 x 480) with sound at 30 frames per second until the memory card is full. The FinePix F700 can also append up to 30 seconds of audio to images. More Features - 1.8-inch TFT LCD display
- Full manual controls, plus ISO settings of 200/400/800/1600 (ISO 1600 available only at 1-megapixel resolution)
- C-AF (continuous autofocus) mode makes camera focus at all times for faster shooting
- Includes PictureCradle camera dock for transferring photos and battery charging
- Supports RAW image format
- Built-in flash with red-eye reduction, auto, forced, off, and slow-sync modes
Power, Size, and Contents The camera is powered by a rechargeable NP-40 lithium-ion battery (included). It measures 4.3 x 2.1 x 1.1 inches and weighs 4.6 ounces. Good camera. April 20, 2008 Bought this to replace my broken one (dropped it one too many times). Well worth the price (refurbished). Going on vacation to St. Thomas USVI and it is going in the water with me in it's UW Housing. Had the housing from my first F700 and didn't feel like forking over another 250 bucks for a housing for my newer Canon A540. Now I have two cameras, one for around town and one for the beach. Works for me! Came in in about a week and looks new. Came with the carger and USB cable; but not the cradle or AV cable like my first one. I still have them though. So it wasn't a big deal.
Great deal, good product March 27, 2008 This is a great deal for the cost, top of the line in 2005. Just like new, exc no docking station. Does come with cord & computer line. Limited memory but great photo quality & autofocus.

What a piece of junk! I got this camera from another retailer two years ago. The first year and a half it worked great. The pictures were clear and sharp, the colors bright. It was a good web cam also.
Then one day it stopped working outdoors. The pictures are nothing but white. Not even the photo editing software can get rid of the whiteness. I thought it was just me but a little research has yielded hundreds of orther horror stories about this camera and Fuji's unwillingness to fix the problem..
Save your money.
great images but seriously flawed unit (note service advisory from fuji) June 2, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have loved, loved, loved this camera since I first used a borrowed unit nearly 2 years ago. I bought my own about 16 months ago and have had nothing but joy until about a week ago, when it suddenly began to malfunction. When I went looking for information, I found many people reported the same issue: a distorted, multi-color image appearing in both the large display and on the image.
I very sadly started shopping for another camera in the Finepix F series when I came across a Fuji Service Advisory for this very problem. If you have this camera and have experienced this trouble, it is worth your time to read the advisory and have your camera repaired for no charge, even if it is out of original warranty

Other than this very serious malfunction, I have been very happy with this model and am especially fond of the 30fps video/audio feature. And it's hard to beat the excellent, high quality still images in such a small and simple package.
My favorite of all my digital cameras March 27, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I"m surprised at some of the one and two star ratings that I've read here about this camera.
Even though I've got a great SLR Canon Rebel XT, plus four other fine point and shoot digital cameras, the Fuji 700 is my preferred camera when I find that the Canon XT a bit bulky for certain times.
One of the reasons I love it is that I prefer not to use the flash when I'm shooting indoors, and the F700 has an ISO 1600 which has allowed me to get some super great indoor shots.
I also love the "meter" which is quite easy to see before I take the shot, thus, giving me GO to take a properly exposed shot.
Now, I haven't read ALL the reviews here, and I'm sure most of the bad reviews are legitimate. The only problem I've ever had was that it kept "shutting down" on me, so I sent it back, and I now have not longer that problem.
And, I forgot to mention that it does not suffer from the dreaded "Shutter lag" syndrome that so many point and shoot cameras do....
So, the great indoor with no flash shots, the high ISO, and the "fast shot to shot" was enough to make this beauty my favorite.
And, just recently I purchased the Fuji F10, which I kept for a few days, and then returned because it was not even close to the F700.
That purchase-return only endeared me closer to the F700. And, if the F700 ever dies on me, my only problem would be trying to purchase another one, and they've been "discontinued"....
And, I do love my Canon Rebel XT, but I've found that since the F700 allows me to accomplish all I really want with it, that I'm having second thoughts about wether I really need the Canon XT.
No, I won't sell the Canon, but the F700 has surpassed everything that I had anticipated....
