Does the job. March 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A top-of-the-line speaker system this is NOT, but it does the job.
As a happy owner of a Creative Zen Vision:M, which is now discontinued, finding a docking station is pretty much futile. They had a decent one on the market but like the player itself they're no longer available.
I just wanted something to use at work so I could hear some music, thanks to internet blocking I couldn't play all of my stuff through my computer speakers. Legally downloaded files require a check on the "rights" to that file and of course my work blocks those sites. So anything I purchased for download was off limits.
I had an FM transmitter, one burned out quickly and the other eats batteries like there's no tomorrow. I just wanted to hear music, I didn't need surround sound. I didn't need CD quality. I just wanted to hear music. This little gizmo does the trick.
Worth every penny.
Not bad at all for the price! January 23, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As there is not much out there in terms of accessories for the Zen -besides connector cables and power adapters- I was really excited to locate these a year ago. I needed something that would prop my Zen up so I could watch movies on it during breaks at work, and also allow me to listen to music in the background while taking calls. The speakers are not the best quality out there, but it really is no different than tuning in to a radio station. This will not be the method by which you want to play music for friends at your next party, but it will play the music relatively clearly and relatively loudly. Perfect for a day at the shore or in a coffee shop. If you want something that is portable and durable, these guys are the ticket. I've dropped them several times without so much as a crack or a chip, and the wires and connectors are all very sturdy. It is easy to set up and disassemble, and I have taken mine all over the US. All in all it is an excellent accessory for the Zen or any other non-iPod mp3 player out there. The only improvement I could want would have been to have a method to power the speakers AND charge the mp3 player at the same time. As it is, I'm very pleased to have gotten such a good deal.
It Play Your Music -- it's what you pay for October 4, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you want a small speaker to listen to your zen outloud, this will get the job done. Don't expect it to sound amazing, but it sounds good enough for most people's ears. At the price, your paying for the ability to play your music and not much more. My main hang up with it thought is the shape of the part that holds the Zen. You don't have to look very close to see that it is circlular. You don't have to have owned your zen for long to know that the zen's contols arnt circular. and you dont have to be very 'in the know' to know that the Ipods control is. It seems more like it was designed for Ipods. My theory? they designed it to appeal to Ipoders, but named it to attract zenfolk. The touch strip lands right above the plastic, but the bottom two buttons are difficult to press. Other then that, I wish there was an outlet cable.
Besides a couple thing, this speaker gets the job done, and at a price you cant complain about.
(btw, somone said that it was pure static at full volume, but I have had no such issues)
Just Fine for the Price August 13, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These speakers are just fine for what you pay for them. I did not notice any static or interference whatsoever no matter what the volume. For $13, they are a bargain. As was said before, the only thing they lack is a power cord.
mp3 player speakers July 12, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. I bought a pair of these for my daughter's ipod and they sound great. I even bought another set to listen to my Vision M at work. Of course, if you're looking for the same listening experience you'd get from your home sound system or even good desktop computer speakers, you're going to be disappointed. But if all you want is something to play your music and sound decent, this works as well as many much more expensive speakers I've seen being sold. It gets pretty loud and I didn't notice any distortion.
The bad thing about it is that the speaker isn't sold with the power adapter. (What's that about?) It runs for a surprisingly long time off 4 AA batteries, but you can buy an adapter at Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack for less than $20. Just remember: 6V, 350mA.
