I use this on the elipical and treadmill. The plastic is thick and for it to fit comfortably the iphone faces away from you. But for a quick solution to working out with your iphone on ipod mode this works ok.

Don't buy this armband if you expect to use the touchscreen while the iPhone is inside it. The plastic is too thick. I attempted to cut a section of the plastic out so that I could use the touchscreen. I didn't realize that the plastic screen cover needs to be there if you want the armband to keep its tension. Don't throw your money in the trash like I did.
