WD passport January 7, 2009 I got this for my new Alu macbook specifically for timemachine, music, pic and videos since i didnt want to clog my macbook with those stuff. soo far this external hard drive is very reliable, very slim, and light(drop it in a friends hands and her hands dropped thinking it was heavy lol ). love the fact that its usb powered
on the other side its very shiny, finger print magnet and gets scratched very fast. i scratched mine the same day i got it just by wiping it with a cleaning cloth removing dust off it. Also, sometimes you can feel the vibration when the disk spins and its kinda irritating sometoimes and if its still connected to my laptop after i ejected it there is a loud click when the pc goes off.
But apart for then i love it, very good external hard drive.
good hard drive January 7, 2009 the operating speed of the hard disk is amazing, besides the size and convenience for transportation is incredible. you can take anywhere up in your shirt pocket! the price is affordable and the storage capacity is very good. Buy it, you will not regret!!
works great with one caveat! January 7, 2009 This product works as advertised. Good response time, no problems BUT... We have two computers at home, both laptops. On one it was plug and play; on the other it failed. After some diagnosis, it seems that a Y connector USB cord was required. Another few bucks for that and all is well.
I didn't make use of any of the provided software so I can't vouch for that.
Great January 6, 2009 Product was shipped quickly, worked great, and was the cheapest around. Most 320 GB Passports were double the price. Great buy!
Great HD fits in back of pocket January 6, 2009 I've used the Passport Essential for a few weeks now, using it to back-up documents, music, pictures, and videos. I've been very happy with the product because of the following aspects:
Size/Portability--the drive is small enough to fit in a shirt or back pocket, really easy to carry around and durable enough to be tossed in my luggage.
Ease of Set-up--I'm not the most computer savvy, but all I needed to do was connect the drive to the USB port and the program booted up automatically. WD offers a program called MySync which allows you to pick what you want to back-up, including email. You can pick what you want to back up pretty easily and be able to port that onto other computers.
Style--simple and sleek, it fits in nicely with just about anything.
